Safety Manager
Location: Greenville, NC (Current Project)
Job Type: Full-time, Project-Based with Long-Term Opportunities
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; overtime or weekends as needed
Travel: Future projects may be located throughout North and South Carolina.
Position Summary
CMT 1, INC. seeks an experienced Safety Manager to lead safety activities on active industrial construction projects, working with project managers, supervisors, employees, subcontractors, and clients to maintain OSHA compliance, prevent incidents, and promote a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a visible daily jobsite safety presence.
- Enforce company, client, site, and OSHA requirements.
- Conduct daily inspections and close corrective actions.
- Lead orientations, toolbox talks, and task-specific training.
- Review JHAs, pre-task plans, permits, and safety documentation.
- Monitor LOTO, hot work, confined space, fall protection, lifting/rigging, line breaks, and equipment installation.
- Verify PPE and stop work for serious hazards.
- Investigate incidents and near misses; implement corrective actions.
- Maintain inspection, training, permit, and incident records.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, clients, and project leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of OSHA Course #510 is required.
- Three or more years of construction, industrial, manufacturing, or field-safety experience.
- Working knowledge of OSHA construction and general-industry standards.
- Experience with inspections, training, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic Word, Excel, Outlook, and safety-recordkeeping skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Construction, OSHA 500, or OSHA 501.
- CHST, CSST, CSSS, First Aid/CPR/AED, HAZWOPER, NFPA 70E, or related certification.
- Industrial construction or skilled-trade experience.
- Pipefitting, mechanical, electrical, rigging, or equipment-installation experience.
- Bilingual English and Spanish.
Work Requirements
- Active industrial environment; extended standing/walking and use of stairs/ladders.
- Indoor/outdoor work in changing weather.
- Required PPE.
- Availability for overtime, weekends, or adjusted hours.
